New Products I've Been/Going to Try Out

Hi everyone! Happy February! image image  How are you all?
Lately, I've been doing quite a bit of shopping and usually (if you guys can't tell by now) I buy mostly Korean beauty items and haven't really touched on many western beauty products in a while, but the last two weeks I've been going to lots of drugstores and finding lots of interesting products. Of course if you can't tell from the picture above that I do have one Korean beauty item but basically everything else is western.
So here are the products:
First thing is just something I bought yesterday from Ulta and just tried out an hour ago. I've had my eyes on the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush body scrub ever since Emilynoel83 was raving about it and how it smells really good. The smell is sort of strong in the tub but on the skin it's lighter. It kind of reminds me of Sprite!image
Since it's the winter season, my body has been pretty neglected from any lotion and has become really dry since I don't really need to apply lotion since I'm not wearing short sleeves or short pants so it became sort of scaly. After trying it in the shower this morning, my skin does feel a lot smoother but I wouldn't say it did that well on my elbows and my skin still looks scaly but I probably need to still apply lotion to get the full effect. I've only tried it once so far so these aren't my final thoughts!

Now this product is obviously not new but the Urban Decay Primer Potion has come out with a new packaging and went back to the doe-foot applicator which I have no idea why because the reason why they switched to a squeeze tube in the first place was because a long time ago people were complaining how they couldn't get all the product out with the doe-foot. Even with the new packaging, many people have been complaining that the doe-foot applicator sucks.image
At places like Nordstrom Rack, they're selling the squeeze tube packaging for half of the original price! I bought the smaller sized one since I already have some other eyeshadow primers and I don't wear a lot of eyeshadows to need a full size but they're selling the full sizes for $9.97! If you have a Nordstrom Rack near you, I recommend stocking up! Who knows if they're gonna bring back the squeeze tubes since there are already lots of complaints with the new packaging.

This one's nothing special but I decided to purchase the NYC Eyelash Curler since it was less than $3 and I was in desperate need of a new curler. My holy grail eyelash curler was the ELF Mechanical one that was $1 but they've since changed the style and I've heard it's really terrible so I haven't been able to try that out since I don't wanna risk it but I've heard sort of mixed reviews on the NYC one but I wanted to try it out. I don't see the point in buying an eyelash curler that's more that $15 but if this one or any of the other drugstore curlers end up being complete crap, then I might have to invest in a more expensive eyelash curler. Let's hope I don't have to!
This is probably the only new product in this list but I bought the Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water from CVS with a coupon code to get 20% off and free 2 day shipping which is still going on today until 11:59pm so take advantage while you can!
I used this last night to remove my makeup and it did a really good job at that! It's a lot better than using a makeup wipe and less messier than my Banila Co. Clean It Zero but I'm not sure yet if I like it more than that. I had to use two cotton pads to remove my makeup, one for eyes and one for the face and I don't really like wasting or using a lot of cotton pads since I already use one for my toner and then I'm adding two more to my routine but it really does do a good job. I used a makeup wipe afterwards to see if I had any leftover makeup on my face and I had a little bit of foundation left but I probably didn't saturate the cotton pad enough with the water.
What's great about this is that it doesn't need to be rinsed afterwards since it's pretty much water so that's good.
They say you can use this as your only cleanser and I've heard of using cleansing waters but I personally don't feel super comfortable just using the water as my cleanser and I prefer a cleansing foam but if you like using stuff like Bioderma or other cleansing waters, this could be the product for you.
So far, I'm really enjoying this product and I'll tell you more about it in the future.image

I really cannot stop buying brushes when I already have a crapload. I've been eyeing the ELF Blending Brush for a while but it was only available online at the moment and I was sort of too lazy to buy it online since I didn't really want anything else from ELF besides that brush but a couple of days ago I was at Target and they were selling it in stores! So of course I bought it.
This brush is really soft. I know I said the Wet N Wild flat top brush was the softest brush in my collection but now I think it's this. I was really intrigued by the shape of this brush since it's like nothing I have right now. I do own some fan brushes but they're more suitable for powder and this ELF one is supposedly great for liquids and powders. I hear it's also a dupe of the Sephora Pro #53 brush and looks exactly like it but I'm not sure if it is since I don't own the Sephora one but $6 vs $38?? Definitely getting the ELF one over the Sephora one.
So far I have only used it for cushion foundation and blending out cream blush. I think it did a great job at blending out my cream blush but it didn't do so well of a job at cushion foundation. Probably because it doesn't have a lot of flat surface for it to be able to pat the cushion on the way I can with a flat top brush and it didn't blend it out so well either. I'm sure this brush can do a better job at applying and blending liquid foundation so I'll still be testing this brush out with that.

Something I wanna mention before I forget because I forgot to include it in the group photo is the Boscia Konjac sponge. I've been using it for the past 2 weeks and I'm in love! I've heard a lot of buzz about konjac sponges lately but didn't really understand what they were. They looked like those foot scrubbing stones so I was like why would you use that on your face? But I walked into Sephora and saw they had this in water and I touched it and it was really soft and squishy once soaked in water.
I bought the red clay version since I suffer from dry skin and I have to say, it's done a great job at hydrating my skin. I almost feel like my skin is a bit oilier now since I get some shine throughout the day. They have different sponges for different skin types like charcoal for oily skin and white for all skin types so next time I'll probably get the white one. I also don't think I'll repurchase the Boscia one since it was $15 and I've seen other konjac sponges on Amazon for around $9 or 10 and I bought a $10 one for my boyfriend in pink clay and he said it worked really well so I think I'll save my 5 bucks and just get one online.

I received the Nature Republic Soothing & Moisture Aloe Vera Gel from my sister around Christmas time and I have to say, this is a fantastic product. I know there's a lot of hype around this product and it's a huge hit and I have to say it's worthy of the hype. I'm already a huge fan of aloe and have an aloe plant in my backyard and we just cut it up and rub it into the skin when we get sun burnt and stuff. If you don't have access to an aloe plant, this is probably your next best thing.
The scent of this is sooo good and it's so refreshing and hydrating on the skin. You can use this for a lot of different purposes like face, body, and hair. I've used this on cotton pads and put it in the fridge for a quick eye mask and it works well for that!
This is such an amazing product and I know once it's summer and I'm out in the sun more, this is going to be a great soothing product for my skin. Highly recommend!image

We're gonna end this post on a bad note with these Milani Color Statement nail polishes. I heard good reviews on this but I don't know why I had a bad experience with these. I purchased 45 Enchanting (a deep bordeaux red) and 04 Vintage Lace Sheer and these chipped within 1-2 days on me. The color and pigmentation is great and application was good too but for these nail polishes to chip within 2 days is a bummer for me. Even cheaper polishes by Wet N Wild, NYC, and Sinful Colors last for a really long time on my nails. These just didn't compare. They were almost as bad as Julep nail polishes. It's a shame since I'm a fan of Milani products.image

So that's all the things I've been trying out lately! Probably the most western beauty items I've bought in a while. The ones I've only tried out once or a couple of times I'll talk more in-depth on in the future so look forward to that!

Hope you guys enjoyed this post! I'll talk to you all later!

xx,
Lily

  1. That body scrub sounds awesome! I've used the garnier micellar water and it's actually pretty great. I prefer the Simple brand which is what I use now, but they're both really great for removing makeup.

  2. I really want to try that Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water! The bottle looks huge too.

Awesome haul you got here. The only product I've used here is the UD's Priming Portion. My next haul may consist of that boscia cleansing sponge. Looks like a good investment for the skin.

    Good post!

    1. It's 400ml so lots of product. :)
The Boscia konjac sponge is great! You also might wanna check Amazon for other konjac sponges that are cheaper since they pretty much all perform the same and are made of the same ingredients.

  4. Ooo that konjac scrub ball thing looks interesting. Are just supposed to just... rub it on your face? I also really like the pink nail polish you bought, I think I have one somewhere too that I have never worn :"D

    1. Not exactly LOL. First you have to soak it so it becomes soft and you just put your cleanser on the sponge and then you rub it on your face. It works really well!

  5. I have not tried the micellar water, but I totally agree with not being comfortable with just using that as your cleanser. I got really excited when you showed the Aloe Vera because I bought that a few weeks ago, but have not used it yet because I am waiting to use up my other moisturizer. However, now I am really excited to try it ^_^

    1. I think you'll really enjoy it! :3 I don't use it as a moisturizer but it is hydrating. I think it's more of like an essence? kind of product.

  6. I've been eyeing the Soap and Glory scrub as well - also because I heard from Emily that it smells fantastic! Nature Republic's Aloe Vera Gel is something I've been using for years. It always calms my skin like nothing else.
