I know I haven't done any makeup reviews in a while but that's because I haven't really been trying any new makeup products but I did need to get a new mascara so I picked up the Maybelline Falsies Flared mascara in waterproof ($6).
At first, I was sceptical about getting this mascara since the regular Falsies didn't work well for me and it made my eye itch but I think they're TWO completely different mascaras!
| left: original FALSIES; right: Falsies FLARED |
The brush is still that sort of "spoon shaped" brush but the brush starts off short in the front and gets longer in the back to give your lashes that FLARED look (hence the name). The formula is a bit more dry (I do have the water proof version) but my friend who has the regular formula Falsies Flared mascara says that it's still a dry formula.
I found the original Falsies mascara to be SUPER wet. I've had that one for almost one year and it's still very wet!
On the first day of wearing the Flared mascara, it went on really nicely and I didn't get ANY clumps. On the original Falsies, I got soooooo many clumps and smudges.
One thing about the Flared mascara is that if you want to add more coats, don't wait for your lashes to dry. If you wait and add more, it'll get REALLY clumpy.
At the end of the day, I had no smudges AT ALL and no flakes. But after the first day, the rest of the days, I had some flakes because the formula is pretty dry.
Now for the pictures of my lashes, I couldn't use my DSLR because I have shakey hands and I couldn't get a clean shot of my lashes and when I used the flash, I looked like I was high. Also, my DSLR didn't show the actual look of the lashes so I'm using my phone camera for the pictures. I'm very sorry!

Loves:
- NO SMUDGES!
- I loooooooooooooooove the brush!
- Holds curls all day
- Waterproof!
- Gives a great finish to my lashes!
- Cute packaging :3
- Gives great volume and length to my shit lashes
Not-so-likes:
- Flakes because of the dry formula
- VERY hard to remove (my waterproof Lash Stiletto is easier to remove)
- Makes my lashes feel VERY brittle
- Hard to apply on the bottom lashes
In conclusion (lol what is this, an English essay?), I still like this mascara! I'm gonna use this up until it expires of course. I like this a lot more than my Lash Stiletto mascara which has been what I've been using the past year. If you didn't like the original Falsies, give the Falsies Flared a try! In my opinion, it's a LOT better! If you have any other mascara recommendations, please leave them in the comments! I'm always up for trying new mascaras.
But before I leave, thank you so much to Jordan from Boho Vanity for sharing my blog on her blog! It means a lot to me. c': If you haven't checked her blog, please visit her blog! It was one of the first blogs I've ever read and will always be one of my favourites! And my friend, Sam (Color Crush), was featured there too! :D
Hope you enjoyed this review! Have a great Thanksgiving week!

Hi everyone!
Great review Lily! It looks good!
ReplyDeleteI really like the Falsies original in waterproof, even though it still has a wet formula.
The original falsies just did NOT work out for me but I'm glad you like it!! :D
Deleteoh wow, I loved the original falsies, but I guess I have to try out the newer version! Looks promising :O
ReplyDeleteIt's great! It's all I've been using lately and I don't think I'm ever changing my mascara!
DeleteThanks for this great review! really helpful=)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it helped you! ^^
Deleteooo! Very significant comparisons! I was considering buying this some times ago! Thanks for the review bubs <3
ReplyDeleteGET IT! It's amazing! :D
DeleteWow the curl that the mascara achieved is amazing! I was pretty happy with the original version but I did find that the formula was too wet as well! Definitely will have a look for the flared version and try it out :)
ReplyDeleteThe flared is SOOO much better (in my opinion at least). It's sad that this mascara didn't get enough hype that it deserves
DeleteThe curl this mascara gives is really great! And the fact that it stays that way all day is impressive. The brush seems too big for me, I always find that with bigger brushes application tends to be a little bit more difficult. Great review though :) xx

I thought so too at first and when I applied this for the first time, I got a bunch of mascara on my eyelids but now that I've been using this everyday, my application got better. :)

I have not tried either of these mascaras but from your review, I am very interested in trying out the Falsies Flared because I have stick straight lashes that just won't work with a wet formula mascara. I really like the Lancome Oscillation but I don't have one now since it's quite pricey.

oooooooooh lancome *_* I can't afford a mascara over 20 bucks haha. I think drugstore mascaras are just as good as high end. :D
DeleteFalsies are good, but the Colossal is better.... :)
ReplyDeleteI never tried the colossal! I definitely wanna try that out. :D
DeleteIt is hard to get the bottom lashes, but I love this mascara too! I use it as my daily mascara.
ReplyDeleteI'm really glad I came across your blog as I'm now your newest follower/reader through greader.
I'm getting a bit better at applying it on my bottom lashes. :)
DeleteThanks a lot for following! :D Means so much to me for reals!
Other mascaras that I've tried (and liked) are the Maybelline one-by-one, great lash lots of lashes, and the Almay get up and grow one.
ReplyDeleteI'm suuuuuuuuuuuper interested in the Almay mascara. I haven't heard a lot of Asian people talk about it but the brush looks nice :D
DeleteI love the flared falsies mascara :) it's very good for it's price and when I'm in a budget crunch >.<
ReplyDeleteOh didn't know they made a different Falsies. I think I like the Flared better!
